I have started creating the head of Hello Kitty, I used about 10 pages of newspapers to creating the oval shape of her head then i rolled out some paper clay until it was quite flat then I placed it over the newspaper ball. I then let it sit to air dry for a couple of days, whilst that was drying I started to create the flowers. I would roll some paper clay into a ball then i would use a cookie cutter to create the flower after they have dried i painted them in with water colour paint. I have created about twenty flowers, I have sanded the head with fine sanding paper then I painted it over with white. I am going to to use the same techniques to fill in the gaps of the gaps after i paint all of them with white. I have filled half of the face with paper flowers and the other side with artificial flower, I am going to start hot gluing the flowers together to create my final piece.
It took me a couple of classes to sculpt her, I first created the body with paper clay, then I left it to dry after the pieces dried I filled the gaps, I used my fingers to fill in the awkward gaps. After the filler dried i painted the head white, the body blue with yellow for the inner top that she's wearing, then i painted the arms half yellow so that represents the sleeves of her t-shirt, after that I painted the eyes black, the nose yellow and the bow red. My art work was inspired by this figurine but i decided to change up the colour of the outfit, also I decided not add the flower.
I decided to create a portrait, i started by drawing the hello kitty outline then i painted the face then i used black for the outline. I then glued paper flowers that i previously made from my other project on the bow and placed them as eyes and a nose.
